19th ICASA conference 2017

The International Conference on AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections in Africa (ICASA) is a major international AIDS conference which takes place in Africa. It is a very important conference as Africa has one of the largest populations living with HIV. Currently biennial, it alternates hosting between Anglophone and Francophone African countries. This year’s conference will take place at Sofitel Abidjan Hotel Cote d’ Ivoire, 4th to 9th December 2017.

This year’s theme is; “Africa: Ending AIDS-delivering differently”. It will engage stakeholders from the whole African continent in the post SDG framework. Sustainability of the response in reaching the UNAIDS 90-90-90 goals will not be possible if Human rights are not a key priority for a new vision of leadership in the context of strengthening the application of science based evidence. The conference provides an opportunity to highlight the diverse nature of the African region’s HIV epidemic and the unique response to it. The conference will also make it possible for those attending to share their successes and challenges on a global level.

The conference will be an excellent opportunity to promote inter-sectoral achievements in the AIDS response and to strengthen the partnership among governments, civil society, and development partners. It will be a tremendous opportunity for researchers from around the world to share the latest scientific advances in the field, learn from one another’s expertise, and develop strategies for advancing all facets of our collective efforts to treat and prevent HIV.
