LVCT Health Supports Digital Health at the Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital

Mombasa County: LVCT Health delivered six desktop computers and informative digital posters to the Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital- Youth Zone clinic in collaboration with the one2one as part of its commitment to support digital health among young people in coastal Kenya.

The computers and posters will help the young people access factual information on HIV, sexual reproductive health, mental health and gender-based violence. The digital posters have a bar code that young people can scan for specific information and interact with a professional on a topic of interest in a confidential and youth-friendly manner.

LVCT Health’s one2one website remains the place for all young people in Kenya to get accurate information related to their sexual and reproductive health.

During the ceremony, Dr Philip Masaulo, Ag. Deputy Chief of Party USAID Stawisha Pwani said the donation was a game changer in offering digital health services to the young people in the coastal region.  He noted that having a platform that allows interactivity and confidentiality is a first step towards helping young people lead healthy sexual and reproductive lives.

The posters will be distributed across the health facilities and youth-friendly areas in the coastal region to act as a reminder to the young people about where they can access factual information on their health.

LVCT Health, through its robust one2one, runs a toll-free hotline, 1190, where people call in and speak to health professionals confidently and seek health information and referral based on their health challenges.

Dr Everlyne M.Sumbi, Director of Quality Standards and Outreaches at the Coast General teaching and Referral Hospital, thanked the USAID Stawisha Pwani and One2one team for the donation. She said that the donations would transform how the hospital reaches out to young people who remain disadvantaged in getting health information.
