Dr. Miriam Taegtmeyer (BSc, BM BCh, PhD, FRCP) is a clinical academician at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, where she heads the community health systems research group. She is a practicing infectious diseases clinician in the United Kingdom and combines this with research into community health equity and effectiveness in resource poor contexts. She has had a passion for HIV counselling and testing for over 18 years. She is a founder Director at LVCT Health. Her research in the complementary areas of HIV testing and counselling and community health systems has directly impacted public health through practical evidence-based recommendations that link health systems with communities. Miriam’s publications have informed both WHO policy globally and the Kenya Ministry of Health guidelines. In 2015 she was included in the Graduate Institute list of 300 Women Leaders in Global Health.
