Frontline AIDS Interim Executive Director Visits LVCT Health

John Plastow with the LVCT Health and MSF Belgium teams at Karuri MAT Clinic.

LVCT Health had the honor host John Plastow, the Interim Executive Director, Frontline AIDS during his recent visit to Kenya.

During the visit, John Plastow engaged with our staff and healthcare workers, gaining a firsthand insight into our achievements in Kenya and beyond.

Part of the visit involved touring our Ruaka Drop-in Center and Karuri MAT Clinics that provide harm reduction services for people who use drugs in the County, thanks to our collaboration of Kiambu County Department of Health, LVCT Dhibiti Project and MSF-Belgium.

This partnership has enabled over 1,000 individuals who use drugs to access Medically Assisted Therapy (MAT) and other harm reduction services, which are crucial in preventing HIV, Hepatitis B & C, and other health and social risks.

The Frontline AIDS delegation expressed  great interest in our advanced treatment and prevention strategies for HIV/AIDS and TB.

Looking to the future, John Plastow and Dr Lilian Otiso, explored potential areas for further collaboration, discussing how the two organizations can leverage their partnership to address HIV/AIDS and sexual reproductive health challenges among marginalised populations, including women and adolescent girls.

John Plastow was accompanied by Paul Sagna, Head of Partnerships at Frontline AIDS, and Dr. Lilian Otiso, LVCT Health’s Executive Director. Dr. Otiso expressed gratitude for the long-standing collaboration and support from Frontline AIDS.

The visit underscored the strong partnership between LVCT Health and Frontline AIDS. Together, we are committed to scaling up health interventions and ensuring sustainable health solutions for the communities we serve. This visit has reaffirmed our shared goals and paved the way for future joint initiatives. We are excited about the opportunities ahead as we continue to work closely with Frontline AIDS, making significant strides in public health and improving lives.
