Lvcthealth Global Health Security

We collaborate with national and county governments and communities to build resilient health systems that anticipate, prevent, detect, and respond to emerging and existing public health threats and outbreaks. We integrate emergency readiness and response within existing health systems.

Our approach is embedded in community participation and involvement, innovative digital health solutions, and research to increase country readiness to respond to any health threats.

Strategic Focus

Risk Communication and Community engagement (RCCE):

  • Supports 1,800 community health workers/promoters across 10 counties
  • Developed internal risk communication materials including short messages (SMS) on EVD
  • Co-developed risk communication materials in collaboration with KNPHI
  • Reached 82,780 people with EVD messages delivered through the digital health platforms
  • We mobilize communities for action towards prevention of disease outbreaks
  • Increase awareness on existing and emerging health threats

Infection Prevention and Control:

  • Procured and distributed N95 masks
  • Routine staff screening and preventive mechanisms
  • Annual biosafety refresher trainings in 10 counties and Kenya Prison services

Healthcare workforce development:

  • Trained 650 health care workers on MPOX in Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale and Taita Taveta
  • 1,150 CHPs trained on MPOX in Mombasa and Taita Taveta counties
  • Trained 30 members of Mombasa PHEOC Committee on PHEM (Public Health Emergency management)
  • Sensitized health care workers in Kiambu and Mombasa Counties on EVD and MPOX respectively
  • Customized EVD training content for health care workers to a virtual self-phased training delivered through Lvcthealth’s One2One academy
  • Customized EVD training content for community health workers to a virtual training delivered through the HimaRika digital platform.
  • In collaboration with KNPHI, developed EVD training materials, job aids and standard operating procedures.  

Laboratory systems:

  • Worked with Kiambu and Mombasa counties to identify and prepare EVD sample collection and isolation labs
  • Support counties with Integrated sample referral systems
  • Integrated trainings for laboratory personnel
  • Strengthened laboratory clinical interface for management of infectious diseases in Kenya Prison Service and across 10 counties

Leadership and Coordination:

  • Co-developed the Mombasa County MPOX response plan
  • Co-developed the integrated MPOX/HIV Training package for health care workers
  • Support NPHI to strengthen the national multi-stakeholder coordination committees
  • Supported Kenya National public Health institute (KNPHI) in planning and coordination during MPOX and EVD outbreaks.
  • We participate in the WHO humanitarian network briefings

Service delivery:

  • Supported Mombasa County to strengthen the Public Health Emergency and Outbreak’s Center (PHOEC)
  • 4,998 clients mobilized for MPOX vaccination
