Mr. Keletso Makofane is a Public Health Scholar with the Global Health Policy and Politics Initiative at the O’Neill Institute. He has many years of experience in the HIV field, spanning research, granting, programming, human rights, and advocacy. He is a member of the governing council for the International Aids Society, the largest membership organization of individuals who work in the HIV response.
Makofane has served on various working groups and committees that shape the global response to HIV. These include the World Health Organization Strategic and Technical Advisory Committee (STAC) on HIV and Viral Hepatitis and the Guidelines Development Group for the first comprehensive World Health Organization guidelines for HIV prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and care for key populations.
He is currently a doctoral candidate in Population Health Sciences at the T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Harvard University. He holds an MPH in biostatistics, which he earned as a Fulbright Scholar at Columbia University.
