Violence against women and girls amidst COVID-19 Pandemic – LVCT Health experience

As cases of the COVID-19 pandemic increase in Kenya, the strict measures put in place are having an impact on our women, girls, and children at home. Lockdowns have disrupted families across the cities, school closures disrupted learning and at the family level we have undue stress, tension due to loss of livelihoods and economic insecurity. In the last two months, we have witnessed an increase in cases of violence on women and children as reported by callers at our 1190, tele-counseling toll-free line, This brief highlights our findings and call to action on violence against women and girls.
